How does a surge protector work?

The live cable or primary power line in a surge protector includes an additional linked connection that feeds to a ground wire. A ground wire’s purpose is to direct any additional current safely into the floor. The surge connection from the protector remains inactive until a larger than normal voltage appears. This excess current is then securely redirected through the excess earth cable, right into the floor. This prevents more current than normal from flowing into your appliances efficiently ensuring that they are protected from any harm that could be caused by power surges.
